CELTIC, Carpathian region. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 13.81 g, 12 h), 'Baumreiter' type. Imitating Philip II of Macedon. Celticized laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. Celticized horseman to left, wearing helmet with large S-form crest terminating in annulet and holding branch in his right hand; before, small animal; below, floral ornament. Dembski 1085a. Flesche 691. Lanz 418. OTA 129/4. SLM 1267. A beautifully toned and well centered example. Minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
